HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Union Pacific Railroad will be conducting work at the railroad crossings located at West Avenue D and Monroe Street and West Avenue D and Madison Street on Tuesday, March 17.
Beginning at approximately 6:00 a.m., the crossings will experience intermittent closures and flagging operations throughout the day, with work expected to last approximately 12 hours.
According to the contractor assisting Union Pacific, crews will alternate between the two crossings, ensuring that one crossing remains accessible at all times while the other is temporarily closed or flagged.
Drivers should expect periodic delays in the area and are encouraged to use caution and watch for traffic control personnel while traveling through the crossings.
Traffic volumes in this area may be higher than normal due to the ongoing Woodie Seat Freeway reconstruction project, which has resulted in increased use of these crossings.
Residents and drivers are encouraged to plan for additional travel time on March 17 if traveling through this area.
