RENO COUNTY, Kan. – Two people were killed in a motorcycle wreck west of Pleasantview Monday night.
Reno County Sheriff’s Sergeant David Radke said deputies, Reno County EMS and Fire District 8 personnel were called around 9:30 PM to the intersection of K-61 and Herren Road, in the area of the west K-61/US50 junction.
The motorcycle was northbound on K-61 and left the roadway at Herren, where 61 traffic not merging onto US 50 has to turn, hitting a sign and ejecting both occupants. A woman was found by one deputy who began life-saving measures, with a second deputy locating a man. Both victims, neither of whom was wearing a helmet, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Sgt. Radke said speed may have been a contributing factor to the accident which remains under investigation. Names of the victims have not been released pending notification of family.
