Two Arrested Following Saturday Afternoon Chase in McPherson County

McPHERSON COUNTY, Kan. — Two people were arrested after a Saturday afternoon chase involving a stolen vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, Bobby Heckman, was booked into the McPherson County Jail on a $25,600 bond on charges related to the chase along with felony theft, distribution of drugs, and possession of distribution paraphernalia. A passenger in the vehicle Scott Cordell was arrested on fail to appear warrants from Douglas and Leavenworth counties.

McPherson County Sheriff’s Deputies notified McPherson Police that one of their new Flock cameras picked up the vehicle going south on I-135 from Smoky Valley Road.

The vehicle was spotted exiting the interstate at Kansas Avenue, and once the vehicle’s stolen status was confirmed a traffic stop was attempted in the 100 block of South Champlin.

The vehicle then went south on Centennial Drive and out of the city, where a sheriff’s deputy deployed stop sticks which punctured the vehicle’s tires and slowed it down,

After about a 15-minute pursuit the vehicle went out of control and got stuck at 19th and Eisenhower Road.

No injuries were reported, and police said two arrest warrants were cleared in the process.
