HUTCHINSON, Kan. — McPherson County Sheriff’s Deputy Samuel Schmidt and Great Bend Police officer Casey Starnes graduated on Friday, Dec. 12, from the 350th basic training class of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) near Yoder. Schmidt and Starnes were among 20 members of Class 350 who successfully completed the 14-week training that led to initial certification as a law enforcement officer in the state of Kansas. Commencement speaker for the class was Fredonia Police Chief Tyler Decker.
