Trump Issues Disaster Declaration for 28 Kansas Counties

President Trump has granted a disaster declaration for 28 Kansas counties for damages caused by winter storms, straight line winds, flooding and wildfires from June 14-19.

The declaration sought by Governor Laura Kelly will make available assistance to local units of governments and certain private nonprofit organizations including rural electric cooperatives to fund emergency and permanent repair or replacement of infrastructure damage.

Affected counties saw damage to utility infrastructure, roads, bridges, and in some locations government-owned buildings.

Counties included in the declaration include Barton, Chautauqua, Edwards, Elk, Ellis, Gove, Graham, Gray, Greeley, Hodgeman, Jewell, Lincoln, Logan, Ness, Norton, Osborne, Pawnee, Phillips, Rice, Rooks, Rush, Russell, Sheridan, Sherman, Smith, Stafford, Wallace, and Woodson.
