RENO COUNTY, Kan. — Reno County released a statement that a single-vehicle accident involving a Reno County Public Works Department vehicle occurred today, resulting in one fatality of an employee and serious injuries of three other employees.
The accident, which occurred northwest of Pretty Prairie on Aug. 14, 2024, is currently being investigated by Reno County and the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The identities of the employees are currently being withheld pending notification of family members, as this is an ongoing investigation. Reno County asks for patience and respect for the privacy of those involved.
The Reno County Public Works Department will be closed the rest of week and will reopen on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024. The Reno County Planning Commission will hold their meeting tomorrow evening at 4:30 p.m. in the Reno County Public Works Department building, 600 Scott Blvd, South Hutchinson.
Reno County concluded in the statement late Wednesday, “Reno County wants to express our deepest sympathies and know our thoughts are with our employees and their families during this difficult time.”
