HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Salvation Army extends its heartfelt thanks to the Hutchinson community for making this year’s Summer Night of Hope event a meaningful success. The evening brought together supporters, volunteers, and community partners to celebrate stories of hope, transformation, and the impact of helping others.
“We are incredibly thankful to everyone who attended, sponsored, volunteered, and supported Summer Night of Hope,” said Maj. DJ James, Corps Officer for The Salvation Army in Hutchinson. “The generosity of our community allows us to continue serving individuals and families facing difficult circumstances.”
A highlight of the evening was guest speaker JJ Hayes, who shared how volunteering with The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign helped restore hope during one of the most difficult seasons of his life.
“JJ’s story was a powerful reminder that serving others can bring healing, purpose, and hope,” said James. “We are grateful for his willingness to share his journey.”
As The Salvation Army approaches its fiscal year-end in September and prepares for the holiday season, community support is more important than ever. With requests for assistance continuing to rise, donations will help provide food, utility assistance, emergency aid, and Christmas support for local families in need.
“Summer Night of Hope reminded us that our community cares deeply about helping those in need,” James said. “We invite our neighbors to continue partnering with us through volunteering, financial support, and prayer as we work together to bring hope to those who need it most.”
The Salvation Army remains committed to serving Hutchinson and surrounding Reno County communities by providing practical assistance, encouragement, and hope to individuals and families facing life’s challenges.
