HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Salvation Army’s bell-ringing campaign is underway as Thanksgiving approaches, aiming to raise awareness and support for those in need.
Major Paul James of the Reno County Salvation Army describes the bells as a symbol of hope for many in the community during the holiday season. The organization assists thousands of families annually through various initiatives, including providing Thanksgiving gift cards, distributing Christmas food boxes, and offering toys to over 1,000 children. In addition to these seasonal efforts, the Salvation Army provides ongoing support through its various programs.
If you would like to help those who are hurting financially and bring hope around this time of year, sign up to volunteer for two hours or more at RegistertoRing.com.
This year, the Salvation Army is introducing a new “Tap To Give” option, allowing people to donate electronically at select locations starting on Wednesday, Nov. 27. Major James notes that this option is designed to accommodate the increasing shift toward a cashless society, making it easier for individuals to contribute.
The Salvation Army encourages community members to consider volunteering to ring bells or donating as they pass by a red kettle.
