Teen Detained in Juvenile Detention After Downtown Abilene Car Crime Spree

ABILENE, Kan. — A 14-year-old male is being held in juvenile detention in connection with a series of vehicle break-ins and damage incidents in Abilene’s downtown business district reported Tuesday.

The Abilene Police Department said early Wednesday morning a traffic stop was attempted on a vehicle that had been stolen from an Abilene residence. A chase ensued from the downtown area to near Northwest 14th and Cedar where the vehicle was wrecked and the suspect apprehended.

Pending charges include theft of a motor vehicle, burglary, criminal damage to property, and flee and elude. The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office assisted in this investigation.
