HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Zero injuries and minimal damage was the outcome following a house fire at East 7th Street in Hutchinson Wednesday evening.
According to a statement from Jeremy Unruh, Hutchinson Fire Department Division Chief of Operations, fire crews responded to a structure fire at the 800 Block of East 7th around 6:42 p.m.
Crews that arrived first at the scene found light smoke on the first floor and moderate smoke in the basement. A small fire was located in the basement and extinguished.
The house was occupied at the time of the fire. However, no injuries were reported by the fire department and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The home also sustained minimal damage and is still habitable.
HFD said it appreciates the help from the following departments: Hutchison Police Department, Evergy, Hutchinson Reno County Emergency Communications, and Reno County EMS.
