Their lead singer, Kurt Shobe, lives in the McPherson area.  Steel Skarecrow has a total of five charted singles on the Texas regional radio charts, two of them reaching the top 40. The band was nominated and reached the semi-finals for the Texas regional radio band/group/duo of the year in 2022 and 2023. Their latest single “Liquid Courage” made the top 100 list of Texas regional radio singles for 2023, and the video for this song, filmed in part at the Cannonball barn just east of McPherson, recently climbed to the number 1 music video on the Country Music Channel. The band has recently performed with Shenandoah, Tracey Lawrence, the Bellamy Brothers, Cody Canada, and Eli Young.

Kurt Shobe explained that the benefit performance by Steel Skarecrow at the Opera House last year was a great success, supported by the community with attendance at the show and the generous support of local business. For our second benefit concert, the decision as made to bring in a national act in order to give the community a great show and raise additional funds for the United Way.

When deciding what artist to bring to the show, the name Ricochet was repeatedly mentioned. Folks that have seen Ricochet say it is one of the best shows they have ever seen. The band puts on a high energy and entertaining show and play all of their familiar hits. Based on numerous recommendations, we reached out to Ricochet and explained what we were doing. We knew right away that we had made the right choice, as they were immediately on board and have really helped out in order to support the show. Though they have been big country music stars for many years, they are down to earth good folks who know how to put on a great show!

Ricochet and Steel Skarecrow will put on a fantastic show, with one of the best country groups in the Midwest opening the show, and a legitimate country supergroup taking the performance home.
