ST. JOHN, Kan. — A St. John man was one of three people injured in a three-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on K-96 near Colwich.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said a car driven by James Commerford of Wichita that was southbound on 151st Street North had failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by a westbound truck hauling a stock trailer driven by Keith Van Doren of St. John, the trailer being struck by a motorcycle driven by Jenny Oliver of Lakin,
Commerford and Oliver were taken to Wichita hospitals with reported serious injuries. Van Doren sustained minor injuries and a passenger in the truck, Darla Van Doren of St. John was not injured.
The occupants of the two vehicles were wearing seat belts, and Oliver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
