Smoky Hill River, Mulberry Creek Under Flood Warnings

Flood Warnings have been posted for the Smoky Hill River at Lindsborg, Mentor and New Cambria and for Mulberry Creek at Salina. At the latter three points the river will be close to the flood of record.

At Lindsborg, minor flooding is forecast. The Smoky Hill River is expected to reach the 21 feet flood stage late Wednesday morning and crest at 25.6 feet Wednesday evening. At 24.5 feet the Old Mill Campground is covered by 3-4 feet of flood waters.

At Mentor, moderate flooding is forecast. The river is expected to go over the flood stage of 20 feet late Wednesday morning and crest at 24.2 feet early Thursday afternoon. This level would be .45 feet below the June 24, 2019 flood of record.

At New Cambria, the Smoky Hill will rise to the 27 feet flood stage and crest at 30.3 feet Thursday morning in moderate flood. At this level there will be some street flooding in New Cambria and extensive flooding of low-lying areas and cropland. The flood of record at New Cambria is 31.72 feet on June 25, 1993

Mulberry Creek at Salina will reach flood stage of 24 feet Wednesday morning and crest at 26.5 feet early Wednesday afternoon. This would be 1.25 feet below their flood of record May 24, 2007.
