HUTCHINSON, Kan. (September 13, 2025) – The Kansas State Fair is wrapping up! This morning’s State Fair Board meeting kicked off with a quote from President John Leslie, sharing the wisdom of Bob Dole: “You feel a little older in the morning. By noon I feel about 55.” A sentiment many board members can likely relate to after a busy fair!
Lieutenant Golden of the Kansas Highway Patrol reported an increase in medical calls yesterday, linked to the increased temperatures. However, he commended the EMS team, ensuring everyone that required attention is doing well. With a chance of rain in tomorrow’s forecast, the Highway Patrol will be keeping a close eye on the weather, even bringing in a meteorologist from the National Weather Service to be on-site.
Tom Thebault with North American Midway Entertainment shared that Friday’s carnival revenue hit $194,000 – a figure higher than the past two years for the same day. He’s optimistic for a strong weekend, expecting carnival revenue to be on par with last year’s success.
Fairgoers have plenty to look forward to today! Highlights include the cornhusking contest at 1:00 p.m. in the Capper Building and the Woodcarver Auction at 4:00 p.m. at the People’s Bank and Trust Arena.
Parking is available in Lots A, B, and C today and tomorrow, though a portion of Lot C remains closed due to muddy conditions. A parking update for Sunday, September 14th: there will be no shuttle services, and all state fair parking will be at the Kansas State Fairgrounds.
