McPHERSON COUNTY, Kan. — Sentencing for a man who discharged a weapon into two homes and a vehicle in Inman in December 2024 has been continued. According to the McPherson County Attorney’s Office the sentencing for Benjamin Schwindt that was to have taken place Monday was continued to Jan. 26 at 1 p.m.

Schwindt entered pleas in September to single counts of criminal discharge of a weapon and criminal damage to property under a plea agreement where a second count involving discharge of a weapon into an occupied dwelling, possession of a firearm while under the influence, and illegal discharge of a firearm in the city limits were dismissed along with a second case involving criminal damage to a second vehicle.

A pre-sentence report indicated the criminal discharge of a weapon charge would carry a presumption of prison under a special rule and the criminal damage charge would be presumptive probation under sentencing guidelines.
