Salina Man Sentenced to Prison for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material

A Salina man has been sentenced to 78 months in federal Prison for possession of child sexual abuse material. The United States Attorney’s Office in Topeka said Douglas Harpster earlier pleaded guilty of one count of sexual exploitation of a minor after the

In October, 2022. the FBI received a tip that a computer ID address geolocated in Salina was downloading known files of child sexual abuse material via an internet file sharing platform.

Once Harpster was identified, search warrants were executed that turned up over 1,500 thumbnails or cached images depicting minors, some under age 12, engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Harpster will be under ten years of supervised release once he completes his prison sentence.

In a separate case, Eric Holloway of Clay Center was sentenced to 153 month sentence on similar charges. His sentence was enhanced due to a prior conviction for a crime of sexual violence.

Holloway will be subject to lifetime supervised release once he finishes his prison term.
