LARNED, Kan. — Fort Larned USD 495 Board of Education has announced the promotion of Mr. Roni Ettleman, as Larned High School’s next Principal, effective July 1, 2025.
Mr. Ettleman, who currently serves as LHS Assistant Principal and Athletic Director, will step into his new role following the departure of Mr. Dustin Wilson, who has accepted the position as Superintendent Lebo-Waverly, USD 243.
In a statement from the school, Ettleman shared that he is, “excited for the opportunity” and is eager to continue working with the teachers and coaches at LHS as its new principal.
Superintendent Bryce Wachs said, “Roni has been a strong and consistent leader at LHS. He’s built great relationships with students and staff and has helped create a positive culture throughout the building. We’re excited to see him take this next step and continue moving LHS in the right direction.”
Before he started administrative work, Ettleman spent 15 years teaching Business at Atchison Public Schools. He earned his undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Economics from Fort Lewis College, followed by a master’s in education from the University of Phoenix and a master’s in school leadership from Benedictine College.
Ettleman and his wife Amy have lived in Larned since 2019. They have three daughters—Ashton, Brittany, and Camryn—and two grandchildren, Kendry and Kollins.
