Reuse It Center Announces Benevolent Distributions and Volunteer of the Month for August 2026 – Ad Astra Radio

McPHERSON, Kan. — The ReUse It Center announces benevolent distributions for the month of August and volunteer of the month.

Thanks to its dedicated volunteers and shoppers, The ReUse It Center was able to donate $5,500 this month.

Inman Ministerial Alliance: $1,250

The Inman Ministerial Alliance brings the local churches of Inman together to serve the spiritual needs of the community of Inman through worship and service. They also operate the Inman Food Pantry to provide food for those in need in their community.

The Omega Project: $3,500

The Omega Project is a multi-faceted, faith-based recovery program that emphasizes heart-level changes in men and women. We offer lifestyle change to those whose probable future would have been jail or homelessness. We provide a place to live, teaching and training in lifestyle transformation, work opportunities, and contact with those who have overcome the addictive lifestyle.

Meals on Wheels: $500

Meals on Wheels of McPherson serves the elderly and infirm in McPherson. Hot, nutritious home-delivered meals are provided every day of the year.

Simple Outreach Solutions – McPherson Police Department : $300

The McPherson Police Department is partnering with Simple Outreach Solutions to obtain the resources needed to educate our community’s children about topics such as Crime Prevention, Bicycle Safety, Staying Drug-Free, Internet Safety, and etc. This is done during Patrol Car Tours, Station Tours, School Visits, and many other events throughout the year. We utilize various educational materials, such as coloring books, fingerprint id kits, slide charts, story and sticker books, stickers and etc., to teach and encourage all our children to make informed, life-changing decisions.

Volunteer of the Month

Troy Melroy came to The ReUse It Center by way of the Omega Program; they send folks to work in the ReUse It Center’s receiving area on Saturdays. Troy started coming out in 2024 and fit in quickly; he soon was volunteering on Thursdays as well as Saturdays. His servant heart and leadership skills have been a real asset to our volunteer crew. When asked why he volunteers at The ReUse It Center, he said, “That’s the one way that I can give back to my community.”
