HUTCHINSON, Kan. (June 24, 2025) – On June 24th, 2025, at approximately 01:43, a male inmate housed at the Reno County Correctional Facility was found unresponsive during routine safety checks by correctional staff.
Jail Personnel and emergency responders were immediately notified. Despite efforts by on-site staff and emergency personnel, the individual was pronounced deceased.
The deceased has been identified as Joshua Caleb Ledbetter, 41 YOA Hutchinson-resident who was booked into the facility on April 30, 2025 on charges of Electronic Indecent Solicitation of a Child. The individual’s next of kin has been notified.
As is standard protocol, the Reno County Sheriff’s Office has requested an independent investigation by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. An internal administrative review is also underway to ensure all policies and procedures were followed.
Currently, there is no indication of foul play. The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Reno County Coroner’s Office.
