HUTCHINSON, Kan. (December 18, 2025) — An evacuation order is currently in place from Plum Street east to Halstead, north of 56th Street, out of an abundance of caution.
The fire is located near 82nd Street, extending east of Blue Spruce Road toward Rolling Hills and the 1000 block of East 69th Street. A smaller fire is also present near Plum Street and 69th Street on the east side, extending south to approximately the 6400 block of North Plum.
Residents are asked to avoid the area, as there is heavy emergency response traffic. For those not within the evacuation area, the situation is improving.
The Kansas State Fair is providing temporary shelter for animals and is also making space available on the fairgrounds for RV parking and other temporary storage needs. Please refer to the Kansas State Fair’s official statement on their Facebook page for additional information.
A press conference will be held today at 4:00 p.m. at the Hutchinson Fire Department Command and Training Center, located at 3201 E. 4th Avenue, Hutchinson, Kansas. Following the press conference, media will have the opportunity to be escorted to obtain video footage of the fire, as conditions allow.
