GARNETT, Kan. — Nine people including eight first responders were hospitalized after a carbon monoxide leak Friday night at a home in Garnett.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said Garnett First Responders along with Garnett Police and Anderson County EMS responded just after 10:30 PM after a 911 call reporting someone in cardiac arrest.
As they initiated life-saving measures, EMS personnel asked the Garnett Fire Department to check for carbon monoxide, high levels of which were found to be at fatal level concentration. At that point the home was evacuated.
An EMS “All Call” was then initiated to bring in additional personnel and resources. Four ambulances were used to transport those affected to Anderson County Hospital for medical evaluation.
The incident remains under investigation at this time.
