SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kan. – Slick roads were likely a factor in a Friday afternoon crash that claimed the life of a Newton woman.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2007 Saturn Ion, driven by Rebecca Shields, 26, of Newton, was southbound on I-135 about three miles north of Park City mid-afternoon Friday when her vehicle crossed the median and into the northbound lanes where it was struck by a Peterbilt semi, driven by Anthony Crane, 58, of Bristol, Tenn.
Shields was pronounced dead at the scene. Crane was not injured.
