NEWTON, Kan. — The annual Best of Newton Photo Contest is now open.
The contest has two categories this year: the Open category and People of Newton. The feature category can include photos of people doing daily activities, recreation, community events, and all things that highlight life and fun in Newton.
Photographers may submit up to five entries in each category. Entries are accepted from both Newton residents and visitors. There is no fee to participate.
To submit your entry, visit choose-newton.com/play/photo-contest-2024<https://www.choose-newton.com/play/photo-contest-2024>. The Newton Convention & Visitors Bureau will accept entries through Oct. 21.
Photos will be considered for three forms of recognition:
* The Best of Newton Photo Contest, in which photos will be judged for prizes. The top three in each category will receive Chamber Checks of $100 for first place, $75 for second, $50 for third. Any entries deemed worthy of honorable mention will receive $25.
* The Best of Newton 2025 calendar, which will feature 12 images to reflect a year in Newton. Photos considered for the calendar must be horizontal on 4:3 scale or cropped horizontally.
* A People’s Choice contest through the Choose Newton Facebook page<https://www.facebook.com/ChooseNewtonKS>, where photos with the most “likes” will win $10 Chamber Checks.
