The National Weather Service (Wichita) shared an update for May 1, 2024, about severe weather expected for this afternoon into the evening.
Areas west of Interstate -135 have the greatest chance for encountering severe storms this afternoon into the evening. The strongest storms will be capable of large hail up to baseball size, damaging winds up to 70 mph, and a few tornadoes.
