HUTCHINSON, Kan. — At 12:17 AM, The Hutchinson Fire Department responded to the 300 BLK of North Severance for a report of a structure. Upon arrival, crews found a single-story residential structure with smoke showing throughout the house. Crews immediately entered the structure and found a small fire in one room. Crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly eliminating any further threat.
The home was occupied by two people who self-extricated themselves. Both occupants were seen by Reno County EMS and released from the scene. No injuries were noted. The fire is currently under investigation.
Earlier this evening at 7:48 PM, HFD responded to Olive Garden 1700 East 17th street for smoke in the structure. Crews were able to find a defective capacitor within the HVAC system. Olive Garden employees had evacuated the entire structure before HFD arrival.
