MOUNDRIDGE, Kan. — The candidate field for two seats on the Moundridge City Council was narrowed in Tuesday’s primary election.

These are the unofficial results from the McPherson County Clerk’s Office. The top four candidates will advance to the November General Election.

  • James D. Ratzlaff 84
  • Ryan L. Durst 73
  • Dave Whitcomb 55
  • Patrick Lambert 17
  • Ron Blaylock 16
  • Scott M. Hensler 10
  • Joseph Unruh 9

138 voters cast ballots in the primary. The two City Council seats up this year in Moundridge are open seats, as incumbent Wayne Fisher is running for Mayor, and Kirk Stucky did not seek re-election.

With four exceptions, there are contested races for all city positions this year. The exceptions are for Mayor in Inman and McPherson, where one candidate filed in each city, and for Ward 3 on the Lindsborg City Council and for three City Council positions in Windom, which will be filled by write-in as nobody filed for those seats.

There will also be contested races in November for Board of Education positions in McPherson USD 418 and Moundridge USD 423 where four people filed in each district for the three available seats. Smoky Valley USD 400 and Canton Galva USD 419 had single filings for each available district position, and three people filed for three spots on the Inman USD 448 Board of Education.
