Moundridge Community Foundation Announces Grant Recipients

MOUNDRIDGE, Kan. — The Moundridge Community Foundation, which is an affiliate of the McPherson County Community Foundation has announced their grant recipients for 2023. They are the Moundridge Recreation Commission, Cradles to Crayons, and the Swiss Mennonite Cultural & Historical Association.

Each year the MCF board reviews applications submitted by organizations that operate in the Moundridge community. This year over $55,000 will be released to three organizations.

The Moundridge Recreation Commission will receive $1,700 for a safety mat to cover the front of the Greer stage.

In the application, the recreation shared that the mat helps protect kids playing on the gym floor near the stage in case they run into or fall against the stage at the east end of the building.

The second grant recipient, Cradles to Crayons, also known as the Moundridge Early Childhood Center will be receiving $50,000.

Cradle to Crayons Childcare, in collaboration with the City, USD 423 and the Associated Ministries, requested the amount in order to develop a new Moundridge Early Childhood Center, which will expand the number of childcare seats available to the community.

The final grant recipient, Swiss Mennonite Cultural & Historical Association will be receiving a grant for $3,500 for their 150th SMCHA Celebration.

The Swiss Mennonites that settled in the Moundridge area arrived in 1874 and next year will be the 150th anniversary of their arrival, so the Swiss Mennonite Cultural and Historical Association is planning a year-long series of events to celebrate the historic event. A videographer has been hired by the Planning Committee to assist with the publicity and documenting of all events, so the grant is to use to cover those expenses.
