McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Family YMCA was recognized this week by Safe Kids Kansas as recipient of the Outstanding Partnership for the Child Safety Award for a life jacket loaner station they launched this past spring.

Through the program, swimmers and boaters can borrow a life jacket at no charge for up to 14 days at a time. The program, which is open to everyone in the McPherson community and surrounding areas, provides life jackets in sizes ranging from infant to adult 4XL that can be used at birthday parties, lake outings, camping and fishing trips, or hotel pools.

They have also partnered with the local Special Olympics program to loan life jackets to their athletes.

The Kansas Head Start Association also received this award for a partnership to provide safety education and materials for home visitors.
