McPherson Water Park Leaks Repaired, Lazy River Operating as Expected

McPHERSON, Kan. — The contractor brought in to repair multiple water leaks at the McPherson Water Park says the active leaks have been repaired and the Lazy River in the park is now operating as expected. A report from Dondlinger Construction of Wichita was presented to McPherson City Commissioners during a study session Tuesday.

Over a two-day period of testing in early October the water volume loss was reduced from a previously reported around 18,000 gallons a day to around 748 gallons, which is consistent with normal evaporation seen with highs in the 70’s and higher than normal wind gusts.

The report noted evidence of active leakage was found during and after the monitoring period coming out of the newer jet fittings and in the filter building around flexible connectors, leakage described as drips and noting that would substantiate a large amount of water loss. It appeared the leaks around the flexible connection may have been going on for quite some time.

Dondlinger recommended fixing those active drips, along with proper winterization, and routine operations monitoring, especially during high-use summer months to ensure continued performance.
