McPHERSON, Kan. — The city of McPherson will conduct a selective spraying for mosquitoes this evening, which will focus on parks, Turkey Creek Golf Course, the cemetery, and the area around the CHS refinery. Public Lands and Facilities Director Wayne Burns also says if weather permits, they will be doing a comprehensive city-wide spraying operation Thursday evening.
Spraying will take place between 8 PM and midnight.
Residents are asked to limit any exposure to the spraying by closing all windows, doors and vents, turning off fans and window air conditioners or set them to recirculate, bring in children’s toys and any outdoor furniture and give then a rinse before using them again, and wash any outside produce you have outside and give your hair and skin a quick wash if you’re exposed to the pesticide.
The city will also be using mosquito dunks, which are tablets that can be used to control mosquito larvae in standing water such as in public drainage areas.
If you have questions about the spraying contact the Park Department Supervisor at 620-245-2535 or email [email protected].
