McPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Housing Coalition (MHC) has been awarded $375,000 through Federal Home Loan Bank Topeka’s 2025 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) to support the completion of the Sutherland Estates Supportive Housing Project. This year, $33.9 million in AHP grants were awarded in partnership with FHLBank Topeka’s member financial institutions across Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. The member institution partnering on this project is Farmers State Bank.
The Sutherland Estates project will provide safe, stable, and affordable supportive housing for individuals and families experiencing housing instability. This development represents a meaningful step toward addressing local housing needs by expanding access to long-term housing paired with supportive services that promote stability, independence, and overall well-being.
“Providing Affordable Housing Program grants through our members each year remains central to our mission,” said Jeff Kuzbel, president and CEO of FHLBank Topeka. “The dedication of our members, combined with the creativity of housing experts, is reflected in the diverse projects receiving support. This year’s AHP initiatives will have a lasting effect in communities across our district.”
Through this investment, the Sutherland Estates project will strengthen McPherson’s housing continuum and expand access to safe, affordable housing for individuals and families with low to moderate incomes.
