McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Fire Department will place into service its two new attack trucks Thursday evening with a Push-In Ceremony at Fire Station 2 (1705 N. Main St. in McPherson). This is a tradition in the fire service when new units come on line.
Attack trucks, often referred to as brush trucks, are designed to fight grass, brush and wildland fires, especially in areas where larger fire engines can’t go.
Over the years they have evolved into multi-purpose units carrying specialized tools along with water supply and pumps.
The Push-In Ceremony will take place Thursday, Feb. 12 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and tours of Fire Station 2, which opened last year, will also be available.
