McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson County Community Foundation’s (MCCF) Philanthropist of the Year presentation will return to the McPherson Opera House on Thursday, Nov. 20.

The community event, first held in 2005, is MCCF’s way of honoring the many individuals and organizations that contribute to the success of McPherson County and its nonprofits.

Doors to the Opera House will open at 6 p.m., with the presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Light snacks, desserts and drinks will be served.

Originally established as the Volunteer of the Year award, the Philanthropist of the Year has been MCCF’s signature annual event since 2005. Over the years, the foundation has recognized 45 individuals and two organizations with the honor. Each recipient is given an award commemorating their achievements and a monetary amount to donate to a local organization or project of their choice.

The award’s purpose is to recognize the exceptional time, effort and financial support community members dedicate to improving McPherson County.

“Our Philanthropists of the Year are often those who go above and beyond what’s expected of them,” MCCF CEO Michelle Huddle said. “These are individuals who see the challenges our towns face and step up to find solutions, often investing their own time and money. Their efforts deserve to be celebrated.”
