McPHERSON COUNTY, Kan. — Shad Marston, County Extension Agent with McPherson County K-State Research and Extension, recently won State in the Communications Award category from the Kansas Association of County Agricultural Agents. This was for his communication work/audio recordings on Ad Astra Radio!

Each Monday, around 7:40 a.m., Marston’s radio spots air on 98.9/1540 KMCP, 96.7 KMPK and 95.5 KLBG. Marston informs and updates the community on all local and county events and offers helpful tips on anything related to agriculture. He uses current and research-based information that he gathers and then presents to the local community. Something Marston does that the listeners enjoy is a “But First” fact.

Marston has three to five different segments in each radio spot. One example is his Ag Spot, where he covers current news and hot topics of the week for ag producers, homeowners and community members.

“Getting the agriculture news and Extension events out to more people in the community is a big benefit, and using the radio is a great method to do this,” Marston said.

Here is the winning audio that Marston submitted to the KACAA.

If you happen to miss the segments on Monday mornings, you can also listen to Marston’s weekly radio spots on the McPherson County Extension’s website.
