McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson County Community Foundation (MCCF) is pleased to announce the launch of its Reverse Scholarship Program, a new effort under the Foundation’s McPherson County Professional Recruitment (McPherson County CPR) initiative.
McPherson County CPR is designed to attract and retain college or trade educated professionals by encouraging them to live and work in McPherson County.
The first reverse scholarship available through the initiative focuses on attracting trade professionals to relocate to McPherson County communities. Award recipients will receive up to a $750 reimbursable award that can be applied toward student loan repayment, professional training or acquisition of tools related to work.
To be eligible, applicants must plan to relocate to McPherson County and hold a trade or skills certification relevant to their current employment. Applicants will also be asked to provide details about their current or future employment, certifications, career goals and timeline for moving to the county.
While applicants must move to McPherson County, employment within the county is not required. However, preference will be given to those who work locally.
“We understand that for some trades, where a person works may vary depending on the job,” MCCF CEO Michelle Huddle said. “Our goal is to help these individuals and their families put down roots in McPherson County.”
The application for the Reverse Scholarship is available here. MCCF will accept applications year-round and award scholarships based on available funding.
