McPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Center for Health’s Rural Health Clinic (RHC) is expanding its services to include a dedicated menopause clinic, providing specialized care and support for women navigating perimenopause and menopause.

Over the past year, providers at McPherson Center for Health have seen a growing need within the community for education, guidance, and treatment during this stage of life. The strong turnout and engagement at the recent M Factor event held on January 31 further highlighted the demand for accessible menopause care and resources.

The new clinic is designed to better support women’s health needs by offering personalized care plans and access to providers who are continuing to build expertise in menopause care.

“We’ve heard from many women in our community who are looking for answers, support, and personalized treatment during this stage of life,” said Carol Fickes, Chief of Provider and Clinic Operations at McPherson Center for Health, “Launching this clinic allows us to meet that need locally and ensure women have access to specialized care close to home.”

The menopause clinic will be led by Dr. Buchanan, MD, FACOG, a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and Melisa Kieffer, PA-C, who is expanding her expertise in menopause care and plans to sit for certification through The Menopause Society in June. Working closely together, the providers will ensure coordinated, high-quality care for patients.

The clinic focuses on addressing common symptoms associated with perimenopause and menopause, including hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, mood changes, fatigue, vaginal dryness, weight changes, and difficulty concentrating. Care plans may include medical treatment, lifestyle guidance, and wellness strategies tailored to each patient’s needs.

Patients interested in scheduling an appointment will connect first with McPherson Center for Health’s patient navigators, who will assist with initial questions, paperwork, and scheduling before coordinating care with the clinic team.

Appointments are available for both new and existing patients.
