McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson American Legion has been hosting a Veteran’s story night for over 6 years. This event is held on the 3rd Tuesday of every month excluding November and December. Veterans from all branches of military tell their stories of their time spent while serving our great country.
For the month of April, the legion is proud to have Guy Bower, a retired USAF Lt. Colonel after spending 20 years. Guy has flown more than 9 different military aircrafts. After retiring, Guy also flew the big commercial jets {727, Airbus A300} When asked if he would be willing to speak, he informed the legion that it would in an honor to do this for McPherson American Legion. Guy has a Power Point presentation that he will be using to show his accomplishments.
The public is welcome to attend this event. Many of the veterans, who have spoken, had never told their story to family or friends. Vietnam veterans have now come forward and are willing to tell their stories.
The McPherson American Legion is always looking for more veteran stories. If you or you know someone willing to speak, please contact the legion at 620-242-7702 or 620-242-8744.
