McPHERSON, Kan. — With the recent heat waves, the McPherson Resource Council knows that Christmas may be the last thing on most people’s minds, but they are preparing early this year. Each year several local organizations come together to collect clothing, toys, infant quilts, teen gifts and food baskets for families in need.
The McPherson Resource Council (MRC) is now accepting financial donations for this year’s program, and donations can be made through the McPherson County Community Foundation’s online donation portal at mccf.fcsuite.com or by sending a check to MCCF at Box 1223, McPherson, KS 67460.
In 2022, MRC served over 150 families in need. If you are in need or know of someone in need, the sign-up for the programs will open Sept. 1. at http:/www.mcphersonangeltree.org
Olivia Fetsch, Co-Coordinator of the Christmas Food Baskets for the McPherson Resource Council shared that food, toys and blankets will be distributed on Dec. 16 this year. Fetsch also said the food basket program alone needs to raise $15,000.
“Volunteer opportunities will also be available in the next few months,” Fetsch said. “If you want to help just send me a message and I will put you on my list to notify once help is needed. We cannot run these programs without the community’s help and generosity.”
