MCCF Awards Marquette and Inman Communities at Community Celebrations

SHARE NOW

This week, McPherson County Community Foundation had the opportunity to spend time in both Marquette and Inman as part of the community celebrations. At each event, foundation staff connected with community members and shared more about the foundation’s impact while guests enjoyed snacks provided by local caterers.

During the events, MCCF presented each community with a $2,500 award to support local projects.

In Marquette, the funding will support two initiatives. The first grant will allow the library to install a permanent outdoor lending box, giving residents access to books 24 hours a day and helping address the library’s limited hours.

The second grant will support Helping Hands Marquette KS as the organization establishes storage, shelving and a starting inventory of essential supplies for community members. With the recent closing of the Marquette grocery store, food insecurity has increased. This new resource will provide basic first aid supplies, drinking water, coats and nonperishable food items for those in need.

In Inman, the $2,500 will also support two projects. The first grant will help Inman Recreation host a movie night in the park, creating a fun, family-friendly event that brings the community together.

The second grant will help cover the cost of the annual youth fishing derby at Inman Park. The event traditionally stocks the park with channel catfish in the weeks leading up to the derby, giving young participants a better chance to catch a fish.

The Foundation will be hosting more celebrations (with snacks and grants) across the county in the coming weeks. Help us celebrate 25 years of investing in our community’s dreams.
