This week, McPherson County Community Foundation (MCCF) had the opportunity to spend time in Lindsborg as part of its community celebrations. At each event, foundation staff connected with community members and shared more about the foundation’s impact while guests enjoyed snacks provided by local caterers.

During the events, MCCF presented the Lindsborg community with a $2,500 award to support a local project.

The grant given for this special cycle was awarded to the Lindsborg Old Mill & Swedish Pavilion to complete their mural project.

The mural will be a sunflower placed on the side of one of the buildings on the Old Mills lot. Director Lenora Lynman noted that this building is often the first part of their complex that visitors see as they walk up to their facility. Beatifying that space will not only be beneficial to the organization as a whole, but also beautify an area often used by the town of Lindsborg for various events across the year.

The design selected for the mural is a sunflower-based design, and will be completed by Mindy’s Murals. Mindy notably was the artist that completed the mural on the Inman grain elevator.

The museum says that a bit of work will be done by their volunteer crew in preparation for the mural placement, including repairs to the wood and a new base coat on building.

The Foundation will continue hosting more celebrations (with snacks and grants) across the county in the coming weeks. Help us celebrate 25 years of investing in our community’s dreams.
