Marquette Chamber Update for July

MARQUETTE, Kan.  — Hayley has prepared the first draft for the new Community Foundation grant program and it is currently under review by the Chamber.

The Chamber has voted to issue a $4K match for the Community Foundation fund. Hitting the match goal will result in a full funding of the required initial amount to begin giving grants.

The Chamber is applying for a grant to cover the cost of creating a new brochure. The tentative print date is set for September.

Travis has recreated the Marquette welcome sign. The file has been sent in for printing and installation to replace the South, sun-faded entrance sign.

Mural updates (volunteers requested soon)

  • Motorcycle Museum – working on wall scraping now
  • Park bathroom Mural – art nearly complete. Painting begin this Fall.
  • Kids’ Quilt mural – in process, waiting to complete when the heat subsides.
  • Fish art on South bridge – Contact the Art Room to participate
  • Kanopolis mural – Hayley working with Bethany Art Dept.

Dueling pianos: Raised $5,600+ for the Chamber. Will do it again next year.

Marquette Monday

  • Aug. 14th – Ol Stuga cooking and donating proceeds back to Chamber
  • Jazz Tangent playing @ Park Aug 14, 5:00 PM at Downtown, 120 N Washington St, Marquette

September – final one for the year. Lions Club catering. Band: TBD

Marquette’s 150th Celebration in 2024 – First planning meeting will happen in September. Look for invite when closer to time. Event will be the weekend of Aug. 3.

Angel’s Home and Health came to chat about their local services, including In-Home Care, PT, nursing services, and community classroom sessions.

Adult Spelling Bee coming up. Entrants needed!

Uhler Memorial Hall updates: Will be open from 7-11 a.m., closed in afternoons, still serving Monday lunches. Breakfast will be served all morning. Other services include: a.m. dominoes, quilt room, sewing lessons, free accessible exercise machines, and more.
