McPHERSON, Kan. — A man was shot and wounded early Sunday when he tried to enter a residence on the south side of McPherson.
McPherson Police Chief Mikel Golden said officers were called at 3:29 AM to the 400 block of East Avenue A, where a man told officers he heard someone trying to get into his home. The occupant grabbed a firearm and as the suspect tried to enter he was shot in the abdomen.
The suspect was taken by McPherson EMS to McPherson Hospital and then transferred to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, but Chief Golden said this was an isolated incident. He did ask anyone having information relating to the incident to contact McPherson Police.
