Lighted Christmas Parade in Downtown Hutchinson

By the Hutchinson/Reno County Chamber of Commerce

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Downtown Hutchinson and Ad Astra Radio are excited to announce the “LIGHT UP HUTCH” Lighted Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 2nd at 6 PM! We are hard at work planning a new lighted nighttime Christmas parade in Downtown.

Want to participate? To register for the parade, please fill out an application on Entries will be judged by a local celebrity panel in five categories: Best Theme, Most Christmas Spirit, Best Marching Band, Best Use of Lights, and Judges Choice.

The parade will run from Avenue B North to 7th Avenue on Main Street. Pedestrian-only viewing will be spread between Avenue B and DCI Park, with car viewing opportunities between 3rd and 7th Avenues. This means you will park to the East or West of Main Street and bring in your own chair to view the parade in the parking stalls.

Closures on Main Street will begin at 3 PM in the pedestrian only areas so we can remove all parked cars. Street closures will begin at 4 PM.

Look for hot chocolate and coffee stops and VIP seating opportunities. DCI Park will be bustling with activities too and Santa’s Workshop will be open after the parade! Santa’s Workshop is a joint project with the students in the Geometry in Construction class at Hutchinson Career and Technical Education Academy program! As a part of their class grade they are designing a backdrop Santa Workshop Shed. This will provide a place for beautiful photos after the parade with Santa. We are so proud that they are getting involved in their community and working to help Downtown put on this event! We cannot wait to see the final product and decorate it for Santa’s arrival!

Spread the word as we plan to “LIGHT UP HUTCH” this holiday season!
