LARNED, Kan. — Charges have been filed against a Larned man in connection with an incident Monday morning east of the Edwards Park Public Golf Course where a law enforcement officer was injured and tasers deployed.

According to Pawnee County Attorney Douglas McNett, Dustin Barnes made his first appearance in Pawnee County District Court Tuesday, charged with Battery of a Law Enforcement causing bodily harm and interference with law enforcement.

A Larned Police officer had stopped Barnes, who was on foot at the time, to give him a no trespass advisory requested by a local citizen after an alleged incident at a residence earlier in the day. Barnes is alleged to have become combative and tasers had to be used to subdue him. The officer received minor injuries.

Following the appearance before Magistrate Judge Julie Cowell where a $20,000 bond was set, a preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 27.
