Kingman Healthcare Center Announces Suicide Prevention and Awareness Event

KINGMAN, Kan. – Preston Sauers, CEO of Kingman Healthcare Center in Kingman, Kansas announced a record number of attendees registered for the 4th Annual Suicide Prevention and Awareness Walk Run. The event is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, September 20th at 8:00 AM and is aimed at reducing stigma, increasing awareness, and providing area resources. According to the Centers for Disease Control, suicide was the overall 11th leading cause of death in the United States in 2023. In the US, 49,000 people died by suicide in 2023. Rural states are harder hit by suicide. “In the past two decades, suicide rates have been consistently higher in rural America than in urban America.”(CDC.gov) Kingman Healthcare Center fully sponsored this important suicide prevention and awareness event to bring relief and healing to Kingman and surrounding counties.
