HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The major issue for the Kansas Highway Patrol on the Kansas State Fairgrounds over the weekend came Friday night when a man brandished a gun near the 1861 Club. The man in question was not supposed to have a gun in the first place due to a felony conviction. This person was booked into the Reno County Correctional Facility.
KHP Lieutenant David Golden told Kansas State Fair Board members Sunday troopers made two arrests for driving under the influence on the grounds Saturday, along with a couple of minor hit-and-runs. Through noon Sunday a total of ten people were arrested for DUI, a number that also included arrests by local law enforcement.
One of those came Friday night when a man was caught speeding 151 miles an hour on K-96 in southeast Reno County, also arrested on suspicion of free and elude and other charges along with a failure to appear warrant.
