HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A resident of Hutchinson Correctional Facility has died. The Kansas Department of Corrections Monday evening announced the death of Michael Rogers, who was being held in the facility’s Central Unit.
Rogers, 55, was serving a 354 month sentence from a 1995 first degree murder conviction from Shawnee County, and according to KDOC’s online database would have been eligible for early release in November, 2024.
He had been housed at Hutchinson Correctional Facility since February, 2016.
Per KDOC protocol, an independent autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation assisting in an investigation of Rogers’ death.
