K-State University Honors Program Welcomes Inaugural Cohort of Robert E. Campbell Scholars

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kansas State University has selected the inaugural cohort of Robert E. Campbell Scholars, a group of high-achieving and academically talented students in the University Honors Program who will receive renewable scholarships.

Scholars receive $6,000 per year, renewable for up to four years, with the Campbell scholarship, which is the first four-year scholarship ever offered by the honors program. It was made possible by Robert “Bob” E. Campbell, a first-generation student who graduated from K-State with a degree in business administration in 1950 and went on to launch his own company, Robert E. Campbell Oil and Gas Operations.

To strengthen the Campbell Scholars community, first-year scholars will live together in honors housing in the Putnam and Van Zile residence halls and attend events throughout the academic year.

Members of the 2024-2025 inaugural cohort of Campbell Scholars are:

Alex Crook, junior in environmental engineering, Burlingame; Alexa Heseltine, master’s student in public health, Derby; Kasen Fudge, junior in computer science, Iola; Hannah Pierce, senior in psychology, Junction City; Jack Seal, freshman in business administration, Kansas City; Peter Burdick, freshman in mechanical engineering, Lawrence; Grant Kozisek, sophomore in communication studies, and Alyssa Boudreau, senior in biology, both from Leawood; Sydney Lanham, freshman in computer engineering, and Suzanne Loomis, freshman in civil engineering, both from Lenexa; AJ Grutsch, sophomore in open option, Maple Hill.

From Manhattan: Bailey Bliss, freshman in biomedical engineering; Mario Caycedo, senior in psychology; Elijah Cunningham, freshman in music education; Sasha Lapshova, freshman in business administration; William Lingenfelser, sophomore in philosophy; Patty McClain, senior in psychology; Campbell McNorton, junior in social transformation studies; and Jayci Shepard, senior in mathematics.

The University Honors Program is in the Staley School of Leadership, which also includes undergraduate and graduate leadership studies academic programs, leadership and service cocurricular programs, and Scholar Development and Undergraduate Research.
