HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A male juvenile from Wichita is in juvenile detention in Hutchinson after allegedly making a threat that prompted a lockdown of Hutchinson Regional Airport Friday morning.

According to Hutchinson police, a voicemail had been left on the airport’s phone just before 11 PM Thursday, saying a bomb had been attached to an airplane at the airport.

A comprehensive search of the airport was done, and an all-clear was declared around 10 AM Friday.

An investigation identified a possible suspect, and with assistance from Wichita Police the juvenile and his parents were contacted, and the juvenile taken into custody by Hutchinson.

Aggravated criminal threat charges are being requested through the Reno County District Attorney’s Office.
