McPHERSON, Kan. — Jim Loving officially announced his candidacy for Mayor of McPherson in the upcoming November 2025 election. A longtime resident and former president of NCRA, Loving brings decades of leadership experience, community involvement, and a deep commitment to serving the people of McPherson.
“I’m running for Mayor because I want to give back to the community that has given so much to my family and me,” said Loving. “McPherson feels like home, and I believe we can continue to grow while preserving our strong sense of community.”
Loving and his wife, Dawn, first moved to McPherson in 1993 with their three-year-old son, Greg, their newborn daughter, Leigh, and their Australian Shepherd. Loving began his career here with NCRA. In 1995, he was promoted to president and spent the next 20 years overseeing all operations, including a billion-dollar expansion, and collaborating closely with government agencies, philanthropy and volunteer initiatives throughout the region.
During his tenure in McPherson, the Loving family grew to include a third child, Tommy. Their children went on to pursue higher education at the University of Kansas and Montana State University. Although Loving’s career took him to Minneapolis for a period, he ultimately returned to McPherson, reaffirming his commitment to the city he calls home.
Loving intends to share more details about his platform in the coming months, focusing on strategic growth, community engagement, and responsible governance. He looks forward to meeting with residents, local businesses, and civic leaders to discuss McPherson’s future.
